- Explain how HIV disease develops in the body and which populations are most vulnerable to the conditions it can cause.
- Know modes of transmission and the means of preventing infection.
- Become aware of the drug treatment regimens used for protection (pre-exposure prophylaxis) and treatment.
- Manage HIV/AIDS in the clinic and in the workplace via OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standard and CDC guidelines.
- Conform to legalities of testing, treating, reporting, and counseling cases of HIV isease.
- Understand appropriate attitudes and direct appropriate behavior towards patients infected with HIV/AIDS.
